A frequently used process in the processing of molybdenum is "spinning", in which molybdenum sheet metal is made to rotate on a type of lathe, heated and deformed in a rotating manner. The end products are rotationally symmetrical parts such as crucibles or tubes with customer-specific shoulders.

Machining molybdenum presents some challenges, especially when you want to manufacture precision components with tight tolerances. However, with the right tools and know-how from the manufacturer, almost any component can be made from molybdenum.

When forming molybdenum, the brittle-ductile temperature limit must be observed. Above the temperature limit, the molybdenum is in the ductile state, below it is in a brittle state. The temperature limit is quite a bit lower than that of tungsten. Thus, the forming possibilities of molybdenum are greater than those of tungsten.
